Introduction: So Bees Think They Can Dance?
The purpose of this website is to compare and contrast the honey bee waggle dance to the 20th century style of dance: The Jitterbug. Since one of the main focus' of this course has been to compare insects to human culture, that is what I am doing. Honey Bees use the waggle dance as a means of communication, but a different form of communication than humans use dancing for. The waggle dance is directional movement where the bee can aim its body and travel in a figure eight pattern that shows the other foraging bees where a food or water source is. Humans are recreational dancers but communication still occurs.
